Nordic White Vase

A slim white vase with the matte, slightly powdery surface of unglazed ceramic and none of the weight or breakability. It is moulded from plastic finished to read as stoneware, which means it can sit on a narrow shelf, a bathroom ledge or an open windowsill without the low-level worry that comes with putting real ceramic somewhere precarious.

The shape is Scandinavian in the plain sense - straight-sided, unornamented, tall enough to hold stems upright without a frog or floral foam. It takes a small bunch of fresh flowers, a few dried stems, pampas or eucalyptus, or nothing at all, which is the real test of a vase this shape. In white it disappears into most palettes rather than competing with them, and two or three at different heights group well on a mantel or console.

Light enough to move between rooms one-handed and to post as a gift without heavy packaging. Made without high-concern chemicals. Rinse with warm soapy water and dry with a soft cloth; keep it out of the dishwasher and away from abrasive scourers, both of which will polish the matte finish into an obvious shine.
