We don't make what we sell. We choose it.
Linden & Oak Co. is a small homeware shop built around a narrow idea: that a room is better for having a few good things in it than a lot of forgettable ones.
We are not a workshop, and we don't claim to be artisans. What we do is look — at a great many cups, vases, throws and small quiet objects — and keep the ones that hold their line. A piece earns its place here by being well-proportioned, pleasant to handle, and useful past the season it arrived in. Most things we look at don't make it.
What we look for
Our range sits where Japanese restraint meets Scandinavian warmth. In practice that means muted glazes over bright ones, weight in the hand, and shapes that don't compete with the room around them.
We keep the range deliberately short. Four categories — vases and baskets, drinkware, textiles, and a small number of sculptural pieces — and only as many items in each as we can honestly stand behind. When something stops being worth stocking, we stop stocking it rather than discounting it forever.
The long view
We would rather sell one piece that lasts twenty years than five that last two. That's the whole business, really. Everything else — the range, the pace, the way we write these pages — follows from it.
