A 50ml ceramic cup made in the Japanese sake tradition, small enough to sit in the palm and heavy enough at the base to feel deliberate. The under-glaze finish is applied before firing, so the pattern sits beneath a smooth clear coat rather than on top of it - it will not scratch off with use, and the surface stays glassy after years of washing. The rim is thin and rolled slightly outward, which is what makes a small cup pleasant to drink from.
Four designs are available, each with its own painted motif in the antique white palette associated with retro Japanese tableware. The 50ml volume is traditional for sake served warm or chilled, but the cup works equally well for espresso, matcha, strong tea or a small pour of spirits, and a set of four makes a natural gift for someone who cares about how a table looks. The ceramic is fired without lead, cadmium or BPA and carries CE/EU and CIQ certification.
