Description

A clear glass propagation vase for rooting cuttings where you can actually watch them work. Pothos, monstera, philodendron and herb cuttings all root readily in water, and the transparent body turns that process into a slow piece of desk theatre. When nothing is propagating, the same vessel works as a bud vase for a single stem, so it never sits empty in a cupboard.

Sizes run from 6.5 x 10cm to 6.5 x 12cm, sold singly, in pairs and in packs of four so you can line a windowsill with a row of them. The glass is thin-walled but stable, with a mouth wide enough to admit a stem and narrow enough to hold it upright without a support. Linden & Oak Co. chose glass over plastic here because algae and mineral film are far easier to scrub out of it.

Change the water weekly, keep the vase in bright indirect light rather than harsh sun, and rinse the interior with warm water and a bottle brush when a green film appears. No power supply, pump or growing medium is needed. Grouped in threes on a shelf or a kitchen windowsill, they make a low-cost, genuinely useful gift for anyone who has started collecting houseplants.

Frequently Asked Questions

What can I propagate in it?

Pothos, monstera, philodendron, ivy, herbs and most soft stemmed cuttings root readily in water in a station like this.

How often do I change the water?

Roughly once a week, or whenever the water looks cloudy. Fresh water keeps oxygen up and roots healthy.

When do I move the cutting to soil?

Once roots reach a few centimetres and start to branch. Many people simply leave it in water permanently, which also works.

Will algae build up in the glass?

Only if it sits in direct hot sun. Bright indirect light keeps growth strong and the glass clear.

Is it stable on a desk?

Yes. The base is wide relative to the neck, so a top heavy cutting does not pull it over.
